About Brian
Career Stuff
I'm a software developer and have been writing code in some form or another for over thirty years, which is weird to even think about.
In the mid-2010s, I did some conference presentations and such. I'm easily the most proud of my work on JSConf.us in 2018 and 2019, where I served as the opportunity scholarship coordinator. It was immensely rewarding. Maybe I should put together some sort of links to the things I did, even though I haven't done anything in the past several years.
Hobbies
I love board games. I'm somewhere north of 400 games, not counting expansions and such. I intentionally tried to pick a hobby here that involved being offline.
I've also been getting way more into cooking. I didn't exactly learn how as a younger person, but these days it's something where I've really found some joy.
There's other things that come and go, like interest in 3D printing or, well, website content, so we'll see how this goes.
Links
Here's a few spots you can find me on the internet:
- Bluesky - I miss Twitter of old, and this is the closest thing so far
- GitHub - don't do much there these days but hey
- LinkedIn - gotta be professional or something
- BoardGameGeek - I like to play
- Instagram - though I keep it on private
- Threads - I use it less but Instagram makes it easy to cross-post so some pictures too
- Facebook - I still reluctantly keep up with some family and friends here too
- X / Twitter - I have zero intention of posting there again, though
In most cases, I try to grab the username 'brianarn' where I can, so if you see that somewhere, it's likely me. Xbox Live is a notable exception, where I'm 'BrianArnold'.
